Philosophy/Values Statement

Our Values

The way that we pursue our mission is as significant as the mission itself.

Our values are the major influence in determining our objectives, forming our strategies and evaluating our results.

ASBA's Values are to provide the following to our members:

  • Connectivity
  • Amplification
  • Resources
  • Education
  • Services

We refer to this as ASBA CARES ... because our enduring values guide us in the way we think and act. It is the way we deliver our values and enhance the value of membership that make us the number one business association in Arizona.

By living our values, we will achieve not only our mission but also, ultimately, our vision. We believe these values to be essential in operating our organization:

  • Members are our focus. Members are the focus of everything we do. We have an on-going commitment to those who desire and need our services …and we strive to exceed their expectations. Our basic philosophy is: “Business goes where it is invited and stays where it is well cared for”.
  • Excellence is pursued in everything we do. Continuous improvement is our way of life…change is valued for the opportunities it presents to obtain new members. Values, created through improvements in our member business services and benefits, are a prerequisite for the existence of our organization. Fundamental to our commitment to excellence is the speed with which our services are executed, the quality of our services, and the uniqueness or “state-of-the-art” of how we render our services.
  • Developing long-term relationships have a premier rank in our priorities. We seek long-term member relationships based on our knowledgeable understanding of our members ’ needs and on the values that we provide through our superior offering of benefits and business services. Equally, we seek and encourage long-term partnerships with our sponsors, our suppliers, and other alliances that make strategic sense in accomplishing our mission.
  • Leadership is our passion. ASBA is a leader, not a follower. Our history and our culture impel us to provide leadership to all elements of the diverse markets that we serve. As leaders, we set clear goals and expectations, are supportive, and provide and seek frequent feedback from all of our stakeholders… and are willing to be held accountable. As leaders, we empower those around us by sharing knowledge and authority and by recognizing and rewarding outstanding individual effort. We are dedicated to providing opportunities for leadership within our organization as well as to those members who desire to share their business expertise with other members on a volunteer basis.
  • Integrity is fundamental to ASBA’s reputation. We have earned the respect and trust of people and businesses throughout Arizona through more than 25 years of conduct based on honesty, decentness, and fairness. Such behavior must continue to be the foundation on which we develop all our relationships. Our future actions and decisions will reflect the highest ethical and professional standards.
  • Diversity is a feature of our philosophy. We know that the markets that ASBA and its members serve are becoming increasingly more diverse and will continue this trend in the future. ASBA’s network of stakeholders consists of a rich mixture of people of diverse nationality, race, gender, experience and opinion. We will foster this diversity and nourish it to be a major source of our strength.
  • Communications are in the forefront of our service delivery processes. We believe that ASBA’s future success is intrinsically tied to how well we pursue open communications and feedback by listening and responding to our members and other stakeholders. We will always communicate clearly, consistently, and openly with everyone with whom we deal…and will build an environment which encourages open communication, participation, honesty, and candor. We will not only work to improve the processes by which we exchange information but also to implement the latest technology for the transmission of information.
  • Employees and Member Volunteers are our major assets. We believe that the fundamental vitality and strength of our organization lies in our people…employees as well as members who volunteer their time and expertise to help in the delivery of ASBA’s services and in the direction of ASBA’s business. For our employees, we are committed to their fair and effective selection, professional development, motivation, and recognition…and will provide them with training and support to achieve excellence in member satisfaction. For our members who volunteer their time and efforts to ASBA’s success, we will continually provide them with the recognition that they have earned and deserve…and trust that the exposure of their expertise and talents that ASBA provides will multiply the returns that will surely come their way.
  • Working together with a community spirit is how we enrich each other’s lives. We place a premium on teamwork, emphasizing the positive, celebrating our successes together and striving together to improve our performance. We believe in collaborating with each other recognizing each other as important cogs to the success of the whole, and motivating each other to attain the highest level of performance. We do things this way because we not only believe in each other but also believe this accomplishes our work in a way that develops joy, pride and friendliness among ourselves as well as with our members and other stakeholders.
