Overview

ASBA continually strives to find value-added programs for its members, and one such solution is the ASBA Member Benefits Program. Participating in this program provides you and your employees with access to medical, dental, vision and life insurance.

Through our ongoing partnership with Compass Insurance, ASBA is pleased to offer you and your employees the opportunity to participate in our Member Benefits Program.  You and your employees become eligible for medical, dental, vision and life insurance benefits on the first of the month following 90 days of ASBA membership. 

If benefits are not chosen at that time, you will not be eligible to enroll until the next open enrollment period in November of 2007, for an effective date of January 1st, 2008.

ASBA worked with the team at Compass Insurance and the CIGNA Healthcare management team and developed a three pronged plan to tackle the issue that ranks as the number one challenge for small business nationwide. The plan includes:

1. Improving healthcare insurance options for small business in Arizona across the state with a new and improved High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) that qualifies for the tax benefits of a Health Savings Account (HSA).      

2.  Educating business owners and their employee base on the impact that consumerism can have on the healthcare equation

3.  Promoting a shift to consumer driven healthcare choices, healthier behaviors and the preventative measures to ensure the “healthiest” outcome.

Accessibility Features:

  • Open to all businesses in the state of Arizona who join or are members of the association.  (Annual membership is  $125 per company.)  Group size is unlimited and is open to groups as small as one.
  • Open Access – no company will be turned away due to the medical profiles of its employees.
  • Pricing is set each November and effective the following January at the group level – prices are not set based on medical questionnaires or individual underwriting ratios.
  • Current ASBA member companies may enroll in the plan in November and December for an effective date of January 1, 2008.
  • New ASBA member companies are eligible on the first of the month after being a member for 90 days. 
    There is no “go bare” requirement prior to joining.  Previous insurance coverage is welcomed.
  • The (HMO) plan – Maricopa Country only – has NO pre existing condition restrictions.
  • The HSA qualified HDHP plan is offered statewide.  Pre-existing conditions  are not restricted as long as the individual covered by the plan has had qualifying coverage for the 12 month period prior to joining the AHP.

The Statewide HDHP - 20% rate decrease over last year!

  • HSA qualified with an individual deductible of $2,500 in network and $5,000 out  of network. Family plan deductibles are capped at $5,000 and $10,000 respectively.
  • Has a lifetime maximum of $2 million
  • Wellness exams are paid 100% by CIGNA Healthcare.
  • Utilizes CIGNA’s Open Access Plus - the network of physicians, hospitals and healthcare  providers across the state. No referrals required!
  • Includes prescription drug coverage (after deductible) with varying rates of coverage based on  generics, preferred name brands and non-preferred name brands.
  • Ability to support dependent coverage outside of Arizona.

Cigna Medical Group (Maricopa County only)

  • Two full featured HMO Options  with varying deductibles and co-insurance levels.
  • Wellness exams are paid 100%  by CIGNA (after OV copay).
  • NO pre-existing condition exclusions.
  • Includes prescription drug coverage with varying rates of coverage based on generics, preferred name brands and non-preferred name brands.
