Joining major metropolitan regions such as Atlanta, Jacksonville, Milwaukee, Sacramento and Wichita, Greater Phoenix is participating in the Global Cities Initiative: A Joint Project of Brookings and JPMorgan Chase. The Global Cities Initiative was formed to provide U.S. metro area leaders with the practical knowledge, policy ideas and networks needed to become more globally connected and competitive.

Together with the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, a Global Cities Exchange Steering Committee was formed, which drove the creation of the Phoenix Metropolitan Export Plan effort on behalf of the Greater Phoenix region. This metro export plan has been developed with a new collaborative mindset that is committed to elevating our export position and transforming the region into a robust economic driver.

A key strategy developed in the Phoenix Metropolitan Export Plan is the formation of the Metropolitan Phoenix Export Alliance, known as MPEXA, which will serve as an independent steward responsible for the implementation of the Phoenix Metropolitan Export Plan.
