You probably didn’t give much thought to what type of legal entity you needed when you started your business – after all, as the founder, you’re focused on developing products and getting clients. Why should you care about what type of legal entity you’ve got, as long as you’ve got one and it didn’t cost too much or take too long? Unfortunately, legal entities impact a lot more than liability and asset protection, and sticking with the wrong business structure can cost you - big time. Whether you’re finally making enough money to pay yourself, you’re looking for funding, or you’re thinking about selling your business, having the right legal structure is essential to protect the blood, sweat and tears you’ve invested in your business. Sound boring? Don’t worry, this is definitely not your accountant or lawyer’s presentation! Using real world examples (you know, things that could actually happen to you), Stephanie and Christie will show you why your legal structure is an integral part of your business strategy. They’ll discuss the different options in plain English, help you decide if you need to make a change, and even give you some tips about how to make that change. And of course, you’ll have the opportunity to ask your questions and learn from the other attendees’ questions. If you’re serious about building a valuable business while protecting your (and your family’s) future, don’t miss this opportunity to get educated and set yourself up for success! About the Presenters Stephanie Sims is a recovering investment banker, 2nd generation entrepreneur and author of Funding Your Business Without Selling Your Soul. Stephanie’s on a mission to change the way businesses get funded by educating owners about their Finance-Ability® and teaching them how the Suits (bankers and investors) operate. Her 25 years of experience working with firms as big as Goldman Sachs to those as small as her parent's local printing business taught her that every business owner can grow their dreams and their profits - but they have to know their worth! Christie Kerner is a lifelong entrepreneur, having founded or co-founded multiple businesses and provided consulting services to support others doing the same. In addition to her own entrepreneurial endeavors, she has worked in Fortune 100 companies where she consistently won awards for identifying, creating and implementing efficient processes that leveraged technology to lower expenses and drive revenue. Christie is the Executive Director of Student Entrepreneurship at Arizona State University as well as the Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship in the W. P. Carey School of Business. Christie is also a very active connector in the Phoenix business community. She is Startup Grind's Phoenix City Director (powered by Google for Entrepreneurs) and an avid #yesphx enthusiast. Who should attend? This event is geared towards founders (and founding teams) at all stages of business, but particularly those who will generate enough revenue to pay themselves regularly, will look for funding or are anticipating a sale in the coming 12-18 months. The information provided will be useful regardless of your current entity type or how you created it. No legal degree or CPA certification required – we’re founders like you, so we’re speaking your language!
