Somerton, AZ (October 10, 2012) – Since March of this year, the Downtown Redevelopment Area Planning Area Advisory Committee (PAAC) has been working with City of Somerton staff and the City’s planning consultants on the preparation of a Redevelopment Plan for the Somerton Downtown Redevelopment Area. That preparation is now nearing completion and the PAAC is inviting the citizens of Somerton and in particular the property owners within the Downtown Redevelopment Area, to a public Open House to review and give comment on the prepared Redevelopment Plan.
Time and Place of Redevelopment Plan Open House: Date: October 10, 2012 Time: 5pm to 7pm Place: Community Room Location: Public Safety Building, 445 E. Main Street, Somerton, Arizona
The purpose of the preparation of the Redevelopment Plan is to develop definite local goals and objectives, conceptual development plans, development design guidelines and an implementation strategy for the Redevelopment Area. Further, the prepared Plan identifies appropriate land use, improved traffic, public transportation, public utilities, recreational and community facilities and other public improvements, along with any proposed land use changes and building requirements deemed appropriate to improve existing conditions within the Redevelopment Area.
Members of the PAAC, City Staff and the Consulting Team will be on hand during the Open House to discuss the prepared Redevelopment Plan and to answer questions from the public. Also for your convenience a copy of the prepared Redevelopment Plan has will be posted to the City’s Website at www.cityofsomerton.com
