As you may know, this is a great time for us to connect with
our members of Congress since they are at home on recess during the
month of August. Our immigration system needs to be overhauled, and the
U.S. Senate has taken on immigration reform and passed the Gang of
Eight's plan. We are not endorsing the U.S. Senate's plan, but applaud
them for having the political will to take on immigration reform.
immigration reform battle has shifted to the U.S. House of
Representatives, but members have failed to act since the Senate passed
their bill in late June. We are asking all ASBA members to call
or email your representative from the U.S. House and urge them to take
on and debate immigration reform. Whether they debate the
Senate bill or multiple immigration reform bills of their own, the House
needs to take on immigration reform and not let this important issue
die in August.
Visit the Prosperity Project's Web site to locate your local member
of the U.S. House of Representatives and urge them to take on
immigration reform when they return to Washington in December.
