Tucson small businesses: Your business plan could be worth $5,000

Get Started Tucson is a business pitch competition, hosted by Cox Business and Inc. Magazine, where local southern Arizona start-ups and small businesses will compete for a $5,000 cash prize plus a Cox Business technology package. Nominate a business atwww.coxblue.com/get-started-pitch-form/. Self nominations will be accepted.
Five finalists will present their pitches to a panel of small business experts between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m., May 14 at Tucson Scottish Rite, 160 S. Scott Ave.
The judging panel will provide constructive business feedback to each finalist before they select the winner.
Get Started Tucson’s panel of small business experts include:
• Kris Frieswick, senior editor of Inc. Magazine
• Nathanial T. Bradley, co-founder and CEO of AudioEye
• Rick Gibson, managing director of HOTventures
• Jim Blasingame, president/founder of Small Business Network Inc.
Nominations must be no more than 250 words and must be submitted by midnight, April 28.
“We at Cox Business want to offer a platform for local entrepreneurs to highlight their innovative ideas,” said Pam Crim, director of sales for Cox Business in Tucson. “Get Started Tuscon is a great opportunity for both start-ups and mature businesses to learn from our expert panel and from one another, and we believe the event will further bolster the revitalization efforts in Southern Arizona.”
Registration to be part of the live audience at the event is now open as well at www.coxblue.com/getstartedtucson. Audience members will be invited to participate in the interactive Q&A session and will learn how to secure funding, leverage digital media, and attract the attention of possible investors from the expert panel.
A networking event will follow the pitch competition with complementary cocktails and appetizers.
