SELECTED AS A WINNER OF THE ALFRED P. SLOAN AWARD
FOR BUSINESS EXCELLENCE IN WORKPLACE FLEXIBILITY
PHOENIX, AZ (September 6, 2010) – The
Arizona Small Business Association (asba) has been selected as a national winner
of the Alfred P. Sloan Award for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility. asba is one of 28 businesses throughout the
State of Arizona
that have been selected for this prestigious recognition. Arizona has become known as one of the
national leaders for Workplace Flexibility award winners. The winners received recognition at the 2010
When Work Works Arizona Alfred P. Sloan Awards Ceremony hosted by the Chandler
Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, August 31, 2010. The winners will also receive state and
national recognition through the Award program.

recognized for our flexibility in the work environment., said asba CEO Donna
Davis. "Workplace flexibility is key to
attracting and keeping a high caliber team that produces amAZing® results.”
The Awards are part of When
Work Works, a nationwide initiative to highlight the importance of workforce
effectiveness and workplace flexibility as strategies to enhance businesses’
competitive advantage in the global economy and yield positive business
results. Workplace flexibility can help
employers retain talent. In
organizations with high levels of flexibility, 67 percent of employees report
high levels of job satisfaction.
"It’s definitely not
business as usual as we are continually trying new approaches., adds asba Sr.
VP of Finance & Administration Leslie Barrett. "It’s fun and enables us to be creative and
accommodating.”
The selection criteria were
rigorous and included both an Employer and Employee Surveys which covered workplace flexibility policies and access and
overall company culture. Over 700 worksites nationwide applied for this prestigious
recognition, representing employers of all sizes and industries.Applicants were measured
against data from a nationally representative sample of employers and had to
score in the top 20% - at or above the 80th percentile of employers
nationally.
