ASBA Safety Program
Association Safety Program

ASBA offers several safety workshops throughout Arizona each year. Classes are facilitated by Harold Gribow, MS, CSP, ARM and Safety Program Director for ASBA. Listed below are topics offered. If your company requires specific training, custom on-site safety training is available to you at a reasonable cost.

"They (workers) found the training not only extremely relevant to what they do on a day to day basis, but felt their time was well spent in attending the presentations."

- Dean Coughenour, City of Goodyear

Required Safety Classes for ALL Businesses

Hazard Communications

All U.S. businesses, with employees who may be exposed to hazardous chemicals under normal operating conditions or in foreseeable emergencies, must inform their employees of the hazards of those chemicals under the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (1910.1200). Only office workers who would not encounter hazardous chemicals are exempt. This class will educate employers on the five requirements of this standard: chemical hazard determination, container labeling, material safety data sheets, employee training, and the written hazard communication program.

Members: $10 Non-Members: $30

Personal Protective Equipment

This OSHA Standard applies to employers with employees who are exposed to processes of environment, chemical hazards, radiological hazards, or mechanical irritants that are encountered in a manner capable of causing injury or impairment in the function of any part of the body through absorption, inhalation or physical contact. The employer is obligated to assess the workplace to determine if the hazards are present or is likely to be present and determine the personal protective equipment that is required to prevent employee injury or illness from exposure to these hazards.

Members: $10 Non-Members: $30

Emergency Action Plans

This OSHA Standard covers all employers, except those with only mobile workplaces such as vehicles or vessels. The employer must ensure that exit routes are maintained according to the regulations and that information about necessary evacuations is communicated to all employees to ensure safe and efficient evacuation in emergencies.

Members: $10 Non-Members: $30

OSHA believes that providing workers with a safe workplace is critical to their ability to enjoy health, security and the opportunity to achieve the American dream. Implementing an accident prevention program will allow a small business to learn firsthand that the cost of accident prevention is far lower than the cost of accidents.
