These companies are the pride of Arizona, demonstrating outstanding performance in the marketplace or exhibiting innovative products or processes.

The Comerica Bank Arizona Companies to Watch awards are presented by the Arizona Small Business Association in collaboration with the Edward Lowe Foundation.

Comerica Bank Arizona Companies to Watch is unlike other awards. Because it focuses on the entire state and not specific industries, Comerica Bank Arizona Companies to Watch provides an opportunity to paint a realistic picture of a true statewide economy. Since applicants are evaluated on more than growth, the award includes companies that fly below the radar – those not often recognized for the critical differences they make in their industry, their region and their state.

All told, the businesses that comprise Comerica Bank Arizona Companies to Watch tell a compelling story about the region’s economy. Congratulations to the 2008 Comerica Bank Arizona Companies to Watch.

2008 Spotlight Awards:

This year the Spotlight Awards were kicked off with a NEW, special award, called "The One that Got Away".

Presented by Jobing.com - who was nominated for this award in 2006 but grew so fast that by the time they completed their application – they had rocketed right through second stage!

“The One that Got Away in 2007” was presented to:
Todd Davis – President of Lifelock

When Lifelock submitted their application with revenue and employee projections for 2007, The Edward Lowe Foundation, ASBA and judges thought they might be a bit lofty and decided to see how well they did to meet those goals in 2007 to be re-considered in 2008. Needless to say Lifelock superseded their growth goals and became too large within Q1 of 2007.

Here in Arizona – we have found a formula for growing successful businesses and our economy. Joan calls them the new FIVE C’s: Change – Commerce – Customer Service – Culture – and Community.

The Spotlight Awards went to five companies that are great examples in each category:

Change and Innovation Award - was presented by Clark Peterson, President of Telesphere to Paragon Space Development Corp., Taber MacCallum, CEO, of Tucson, Arizona. Change and Innovation are key catalysts in the quest we each lead in growing our businesses.

Commerce Award was presented by Wendy Look of Compass Insurance, Phoenix Division.
When we focus on Commerce the goal is develop a strategic and scalable business model – incredible service – and a commitment to partnering and making things grow. The 2008 Commerce spotlight shines on Cell Trust a company that experienced tremendous growth.

Customers Award - The Customers Award was presented by John Khatcherian – Assistant Regional Marketing Champion for Staples Corporation.
It is import to have your customers believe that doing business with you is EASY. The Customer Service Spotlight shines on the entire team from CRS Temporary Housing. They help those in real need to find housing after the disasters to make them feel at home.

Culture Award was presented by Don Smith of SCF Arizona. "A Company’s Culture defines the company. The Awardee was given to the Silverado Wire and Cable "family."

The last spotlight of the evening focused on the impact of giving back to our Community presented by Peter Ricker, VP of Advertising for Repulic Media.

This spotlight did more than just identify a need – they built a coalition of their partners and suppliers to make a difference for some of our most important residents – our children -- by building shade structures for schools and other locations in our community that could not otherwise afford it. Mike Campion and his team from Killer Shade were awarded the Community Award for their contribution and paying it forward.

Congratulations to all of our awardees!
