Keynote Speaker Arie Luyendyk – The Flying Dutchman
Arie Luyendyk, born in The Netherlands, is a two-time Indianapolis 500 champion (1990, 1997) and one of the most respected names in motorsport. After beginning his career in Europe, he moved to the U.S. in 1984 and quickly made his mark, winning Rookie of the Year at both the Indianapolis 500 and in the IndyCar Series.
Nicknamed “The Flying Dutchman”, Luyendyk set the still-standing fastest qualifying lap at Indianapolis in 1996 (237.498 mph) and captured seven IndyCar wins, including his two Indy 500 triumphs. Beyond open-wheel racing, he also claimed victories in endurance classics like the 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring.
Today, Arie resides in Scottsdale, Arizona, and remains deeply involved in the sport as an IndyCar race steward.
