Authors release ‘The Challenge of Changing Your Life’

Clara Stella Arenas & Mirna Pineda offer easy-to-read book on how to achieve individual growth back

PHOENIX — Clara Stella Arenas and Mirna Pineda wanted to contribute to human development. Their ideas are expressed in “The Challenge of Changing Your Life” (published by Balboa Press). The book is the product of different learning experiences the authors have obtained from teaching their main seminar, which has the same title as this book. Arenas and Pineda seek to aid the mental enrichment of human beings by questioning the origin of their beliefs and by providing them with tools to change these paradigms.

“The Challenge of Changing Your Life” includes the authors’ personal life experiences and the acknowledgement of personal limiting beliefs, forgiveness as a transformation tool, and the substitution of old paradigms. Arenas and Pineda set a goal for the reader: “untangle” emotional tangles that hold individual growth back, including forgiving those who willingly or unwillingly programmed those tangles and to forgiving one’s self. to reach interior peace.

“This is an easy-reading book. It has a simple and clear language which anyone can relate to. It is accompanied by sketches which aid in understanding the ideas being posed. The chapters are brief and this gives room for reflection and analyses. It is a didactic book that offers practical tools to be able to make those all-important changes in our lives,” the authors add.

An excerpt from this book:

"A story filled with teachers who came to my life in different shapes, sizes and occasions, who offered me learning opportunities in the form of experiences, some pleasant, others not so much. And sometimes, perhaps it was I who came to their lives, consciously or unconsciously, because when the pupil is ready, the teacher appears."

Jack Lunsford Named President & CEO of the Arizona Small Business Association

Posted By Nicci Latino, Arizona Small Business Association, Thursday, December 15, 2016

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:  December 14, 2016

CONTACT: Jack Lunsford

(602) 306-4000

The Arizona Small Business Association (ASBA) has removed the “Interim” title from Jack Lunsford and named him President & CEO.  Lunsford, a former ASBA Board member, has served in the interim role since July.

“Jack has taken his commitment to Arizona’s small businesses and combined it with his contagious energy to bring an excitement and attitude to the Board and staff that ASBA hasn’t seen in many years,” noted ASBA Board Chair Nick Petra. “He has provided ASBA with stability and continuity through this transition and he will now lead our growth and expansion.”

The federal government defines small business in the U.S. as those businesses having less than 500 employees.  That means that 97% of the businesses in Arizona are small businesses, and ASBA represents those businesses as well as major companies.

“We are reshaping and rebuilding ASBA to be more relevant for our members and to provide them with more innovative services,” Lunsford said.  “We intend to be the voice of small business in Arizona providing leadership, services, and advocacy throughout the state.”

Non-profit leadership is a very familiar role for Lunsford, who has served as President & CEO WESTMARC, the Greater Maricopa Foreign Trade Zone, and the Arizona Community College Coordinating Council.  While with WESTMARC he was recognized by The Phoenix Business Journal as one of the Valley’s “50 Powerful People” and one of its “Most Admired CEOs & Top Level Executives”, and he received the ASU West Visionary Award jointly with WESTMARC.

“There’s no question about Jack’s record as a well-known business, public policy, and community leader throughout the valley and state”, remarked Jason Trujillo, ASBA’s 2017 Chair.  “He is a visionary thought leader and change agent and ASBA will greatly benefit from his outstanding leadership as we move forward creating a new ASBA with more and better benefits and services for our members and our community.”

Lunsford’s honors include being a recipient of the Arizona Capitol Times “Leaders in Public Policy ‘Unsung Hero’ Award and the Marvin D. “Swede” Johnson National Achievement Award for Outstanding State Relations in Higher Education.  He was also named one of the inaugural “West Valley ‘24’ Movers & Shakers” by West Valley Magazine.

A Phoenix native, Lunsford has more than 40 years’ experience in the private, public, and non-profit sectors. In 2014 he served as Special Assistant for Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton, supporting him on economic development, education, transportation, healthcare, and homelessness issues.  He is also the founding director of the Office of Government Relations and External Affairs for the Maricopa Community Colleges where for 20 years he was the chief policy and political advisor to the Chancellor and Governing Board.

Lunsford has twice held elected office:  as Coconino County Assessor (youngest in state history) and as a board member of West-MEC (a Maricopa County JTED school district). He is twice an Arizona banking officer, was a rural Arizona radio station executive, and is a former account executive for Mountain Bell/AT&T.  Lunsford remains President of The Lunsford Group, an Arizona small business.

Growth Businesses Gain Access to Capital and Resources

PHOENIX, September 20, 2016Arizona Collaboratory, Inc., (AzC) today announced a strategic alliance with FundMyBusinessAZ, Arizona’s first intrastate equity funding portal.  AzC and FundMyBusinessAZ look forward to an engaged and cooperative relationship that will highlight new opportunities for businesses and entrepreneurs to prepare for and secure capital.

Through this alliance, the Arizona business community will have access to the Arizona Collaboratory Capital Connectivity Platform, a virtual hub where emerging-growth companies register and complete a simple online assessment.  They then are referred to service providers that can help prepare them to secure the capital they require to grow.  Properly prepared companies are posted on the network of SEC compliant crowdfunding portals linked to the platform.

The portal, recently approved by the Arizona Corporation Commission and enabled by House Bill 2591 (Arizona’s new equity crowdfunding law) provides Arizona entrepreneurs and small business owners the opportunity to raise up to $1 million without a financial audit or up to $2.5 million with a completed financial audit from the prior fiscal year.  The new law, proposed and championed by the Arizona Small Business Association (, allows any Arizona resident the opportunity to invest up to $10,000 in a 12-month period.  Residents that meet the accredited investor requirements are not subject to the $10,000 limit.

Other funding portals linked to the Arizona Collaboratory are independently owned and operated by registered broker dealers that provide numerous funding options to include Regulation D 506(c), Regulation A+, and Section 4(a)(6) crowdfunding (better known as National Crowdfunding).

“AzC and FundMyBusinessAZ will help companies be better prepared to secure capital and to help them find capital in the challenging $250,000 to $10 million range,” said Aaron Bare, Founding Chairman of the Arizona Collaboratory.

Nick Andrews, CEO of stated, “Our strategic alliance opens the doors for both accredited and non-accredited investors to participate. Companies that are true startups as well as companies that are post revenue and are seeking a second or third round of funding now have additional resources to raise capital.”

Arizona Collaboratory and FundMyBusinessAZ will present “Utilizing Equity Crowdfunding to Raise Capital” at the September 30 Arizona Speaks event at the Arizona Biltmore hosted by the Arizona Small Business Association (“ASBA”). This is one of a series of events hosted by ASBA to raise awareness about equity crowdfunding.
