Wage and Hour Workshops

Posted By Karen Karr, Clark Hill PLC, Friday, June 10, 2016

The recent changes in the FLSA White Collar Exemptions, along with record volumes of Wage & Hour litigation, has raised the awareness for employers to review their employee job descriptions, pay practices and independent contractor agreements. We know that having a comprehensive legal review of the company's workforce is not cost-effective for some employers. In these situations, the role of evaluating the risk of employee job classification will mostly fall on Human Resource professionals or other designated company representatives.Clark Hill has designed a workshop on how to review job classifications within the complex areas of FLSA and navigate through the recent changes that are impacting so many employers.

In this course, your company representative will also receive a comprehensive overview of the rules and regulations, along with the benefit of networking with other professionals to collaborate on their company's approach to this topic.

These courses, hosted at the offices of Clark Hill, will cover the following subjects:

? Overview of White Collar Exemptions

? Salary Basis Test

? Executive Exemption

? Administrative Exemption

? Professional Exemption

? Computer Exemption

? Outside Sales Exemption

? Independent Contractors

In addition, we will provide you with step by step guidance on the approach to take to conduct an internal company assessment.

We cannot provide specific legal advice during these courses, but we can equip you with the knowledge and resource materials that will help your HR team better evaluate your company's risk.

ASBA Helping to Take Small Business Global

Phoenix, AZ – The Arizona Small Business Association (ASBA) is excited to host their next Arizona Speaks event, presenting, “Increase Sales & Profits, Going Global with Exporting.”  With 95% of the world’s consumers living outside the United States, it is crucial for small business owners to become knowledgeable about exportation and the great advantage it can have for their business.

Dawn Nagle, Executive Director of Metro Phoenix Export Alliance (MPEXA), comments “We already know that companies utilizing exporting are 8.5% less likely to go out of business and workers in these jobs receive 18% higher wages.  That’s quite significant.  We’ve reached a point where business owners need to not only be more aware of  opportunities available to them, but to actually utilize them to their full success.”

Sponsored by SRP and MPEXA, the event will include breakfast and a panel discussion on June 16th with four top business professionals and experts on the MPEXA network of resources, US government assistance in identifying new markets and international buyers, financial protection on foreign currency fluctuations and financing options, and how AZ based Able Aerospace went from small, to large, to acquisition via exporting services.

Dawn Nagle, Executive Director, Metro Phoenix Export Alliance

Kristian Richardson, Director, U.S. Commercial Service Export, Assistance Centers

Lee Benson, Chief Executive Officer, Able Engineering & Execute to Win
