Is Your Wellness Program in Compliance with the Affordable Care Act, HIPAA and GINA?

You may already have a robust wellness program or have been offering wellness services to employees for many years.  Are you certain that your program is in compliance with the Affordable Care Act and other employment laws?  Even if you don’t currently offer a wellness program, don’t let these laws scare you!  The new Affordable Care Act actually provides additional incentive for businesses to offer employee wellness programs. The trick is learning how to build a program that:

1) Meets the needs of your people
2) Fits with your culture
3) Is in compliance with all laws

In this program, two national experts will guide you in an overall sketch of the new law and how to develop a program strategy to meet your needs.

 

Presenters:

Kristi Gauthier is a senior attorney at Clark Hill PLC and concentrates her practice in the area of Employee Benefits Law. Kristi has lectured on various employee benefits issues, including ERISA compliance, COBRA, Section 125 Cafeteria Plans, 403(b) Retirement Plans, IRS plan correction programs, and consumer driven welfare benefit plan design. Kristi is also a frequent speaker on health care reform compliance and counsels employers of all sizes with respect to the impact of health care reform on their businesses. Kristi is a co-author of the ABA publication ERISA Survey of Federal Circuits. Kristi has been named a “Rising Star” by Michigan Super Lawyers since 2011.

 

Lisa Henning serves at the Executive Wellness Consultant at UNICO Midlands. She previously served as the National Director of the National Healthy Worksite Program through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Her efforts included the development of a wellness infrastructure and measurable programs in eight communities across the United States. Previously, Lisa served as the Executive Director of WorkWell, Inc, a non-profit worksite wellness council serving 125 member businesses in southeastern Nebraska. Her work included development and administration of the Governor’s Excellence in Wellness Award, co-founder of the National Network of Wellness Councils, securing designation for Lincoln as a Well City and more. Her efforts were recognized by the Secretary of Health and Human Services as a finalist for the Healthy Innovation Award. She speaks nationally on worksite wellness.
